Hello! I’m thrilled you’re here. My blog is quite literally my home, where I share with you how I decorate my studio apartment on a shoestring budget. You’ll also find easy organizing and make-up tips, because why complicate life right?

When did my love for interior design start? According to my mom, it all started when I was 3 years old, in Medellin – Colombia, the country I was born in. I kept moving a house plant from one corner of the room to the other. Every day, my mom would move the plant back to where she originally placed it, and I would change it again shortly after. Adult me would like to know why, but I can’t remember what was going through my toddler mind.

When I was 5 years old, my parents, little sister and I moved aaalll the way to the Netherlands. As a kid, I would often play at my friend’s houses, and endlessly admire the interiors of their homes. The floral sofa’s, the perfectly-dressed windows, walls painted in sky blue, the violin hanging on the wall, the big white kitchen cabinets, induction cooktops…a dishwasher (!).

Basically, everything that was not present in my parent’s house, where nothing really matched LOL. Not even my parents, because they eventually divorced.

I knew back then, that as soon as I would get my own place, it would be a beautifully decorated one.

Fast forward to now, a couple of life times and career changes later, I find myself living in a studio apartment in beautiful San Francisco, California. I moved here with my husband in 2011 and it has been my home ever since. From 2013 to 2015 I was an Airbnb host, welcoming guests from all around the world to my San Francisco apartment and I spent a few years helping other Airbnb hosts create and market their rentals and facilitating hundreds of bookings. In 2016, I published my first book, “The Accidental Airbnb host: Your Room-by-Room Expert Guide to a 5 star Guest Stay”, written for first-time Airbnb hosts. You can find the book on Amazon.

My decorating style can best be described as Dutch pragmatism with a Colombian soul. For me, a beautiful life is a less complicated life. I love compact and minimalist spaces. But, too much minimalism and I get bored. Interiors need a little (Colombian) spice!
